Public Relations
Public relations is rooted in a democratic society where people have freedom to debate and to make decisions. Private and public organisations depend on good relations with groups and individuals whose opinions, decisions, and actions affect the vitality and survival of those organisations. Contemporary public relations practice offers significant opportunities for service to society.
Public relations is a rapidly growing professional field. In 1990, there were 162,000 people in practice. With specialisation in public relations one can work for industries such as automotive, manufacturing, mining; public relations firms; advertising agencies; utilities; banks; insurance companies; federal, state, or local government; transportation; tourism; entertainment; health care agencies; educational institutions; and religious and charitable institutions.
