Students who do not meet all the criteria for admission to Mississippi Valley State University must enroll in a nine-week Summer Developmental Program. Students take course work in reading, composition and mathematics. This program includes classroom instruction, as well as computer-assisted tutorials. In addition, students receive the counseling and support needed to participate successfully in the academic and social community of the University. These courses will not count toward graduation. However, with the successful completion of the Summer Developmental Program, students are eligible to enroll in freshman courses. The alternative to attending the Summer Developmental Program is the passing of a placement test. Students who do not meet all the criteria for admission to Mississippi Valley State University should get further information concerning the placement test from the Office of Admissions. The placement test should be taken during the fall or spring semester of the student's senior year in high school.
