Delta Devils defeat Alabama A&M for 11th straight win

ITTA BENA -- The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils overcame an early Alabama A&M lead to win their 11th straight and stay undefeated in conference play.

MVSU (12-11, 11-0 SWAC) trailed by as much as 13 points in the first half, but fought back to stay at the No. 1 spot in the conference. MVSU is currently tied for the sixth longest win streak in the nation.

Terrence Joyner scored a career-high 27 points for the Delta Devils to stave off a speedy Bulldogs (5-15, 3-8 SWAC) squad. Brent Arrington, who started in place of an injured Falando Jones, along with Paul Crosby and Cor-J Cox chipped in 12 points apiece.

Casey Canty paced Alabama A&M with 20 points while Demarquelle Tabb chipped in 12.

MVSU hit 24 of 54 shots (44.4 percent) and went 21 of 33 from the free throw line. The Bulldogs hit 47.9 percent of its shots.

The Delta Devils will be at Alcorn State on Saturday for a 4:30 p.m. tipoff.
