Robertson, Spivey claim SWAC weekly awards
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mississippi Valley State sophomore Alexandria Robertson was named the SWAC Player of the Week, while teammate Kimberly Spivey was named SWAC Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced today.
Robertson (3B, 5-5, So., Cedar Park, Texas) batted .588 with 10 hits, eight runs scored, six RBI, four doubles and a triple to lead Mississippi Valley State to a 5-0 record on the week. Robertson had multiple hits in league games against Southern, Texas Southern and Grambling State over the weekend, helping the Devilettes remain undefeated in SWAC play.
Spivey (P, 5-7, So., Dallas, Texas) gave up just three earned runs over 15.2 innings against Texas Southern (TSU), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (UAPB) and Southern for a 1.38 earned run average. Spivey struck out 11 batters over the weekend and picked up complete game wins versus TSU and UAPB. She also pitched 1.2 innings of relief in a 17-7 win over the Lady Jags.

Spivey named SWAC Pitcher of the Week
Spivey (P, 5-7, So., Dallas, Texas) aided the Devilettes to an 8-0 win against Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday. The sophomore struck out six batters in her 5.0-inning complete game stint. Spivey struck out 17 batters in two appearances against Alabama A&M with just one walk. For the week, Spivey gave up three earned runs in 19 innings for a 1.11 earned run average (ERA). Spivey’s conference ERA now sits at 1.42 through 29.2 innings of work.
