Moed named SWAC Player of the Year

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The Southwestern Athletic Conference has announced its All-SWAC Volleyball Teams, voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

Maura Moed (Mississippi Valley State) was honored as the SWAC Player of the Year and Prairie View A&M’s Jasmine Houston was chosen as Newcomer of the Year. Britta Wilmers (Arkansas-Pine Bluff) was named Freshman of the Year while Roselande Corneille (Alabama State) garnered Libero of the Year honors.

During the regular season, Moed, a 5-foot-10 senior middle blocker from San Antonio, Texas, ranks sixth in the nation in aces per set (0.59) while her 3.30 kills per set is second highest in the SWAC. Moed helped her team to a 21-9 mark and a third-place seeding in the SWAC Volleyball Tournament and was a two-time SWAC Defensive Player of the Week honoree this season.

Over her four year career, Moed has posted some of the best numbers in MVSU volleyball history.  One match into the SWAC Tournament, Moed has tallied career totals of 1,380 kills (2.85 kills/set), 24 assists, 199 service aces, 329 digs, 159 solo blocks and 441 total blocks (0.91 blocks/set).
