Week One Women’s Soccer Weekly Honors Announced


Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Weslosky, Forbes; Mississippi Valley State’s Willcocks Earn Accolades

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Two different schools have been represented in the first SWAC women’s soccer weekly awards. Arkansas-Pine Bluff (UAPB) freshman Perri Weslosky was named SWAC Player of the Week, while teammate, senior Erika Forbes was named SWAC Defensive Player of the Week. Mississippi Valley State sophomore Shelby Willcocks earned SWAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors.

 Weslosky (M, 5-5, Fr., Edmonton, Alberta) registered one goal and one shot in her collegiate debut versus Tennessee-Martin on Aug. 19.

 Forbes (D, 5-5, Sr., Whitby, Ontario) assisted on Weslosky’s goal from the defense in UAPB’s season opener versus Tennessee-Martin.

 Willcocks (GK, 5-8, So., West Lorne, Ontario) made 19 saves on 22 shots in Valley’s home opener versus Western Illinois.

 Other Nominees:

 •Linda Aboagye (GK, Alabama A&M) – Stopped 18 shots in two games for the Bulldogs
•Kristy Martinez (GK, Arkansas-Pine Bluff) – Posted 13 saves in a 5-1 loss to Tennessee-Martin
