The Mississippi Valley State women soccer team opened conference play Friday night with a 2-1 win over Alabama A&M. The Devilettes (1-5-2) got their first victory of the season while the Bulldogs (0-8-0) are still searching for their first win.
Josee Primeau scored both goals for MVSU. Her first goal came on an assist from Cassandra Russo while her final goal was assisted by Hailey Beekman after the 87th minute. Valley's Shelby Willocks had three saves and the Devilettes out-shot A&M 15-12.
MVSU will be back in action Sunday when they host Alabama State at 1 p.m. for Senior Day. MVSU's lone senior, Cassandra Russo, will be honored.
