Job Description:


Serving at the administrative level, the Athletic Director will direct and supervise all athletic programs for men and women; ensure compliance with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL); manage the department’s fiscal operations, including overseeing the budgets of the athletic teams and approving expenditures; serve as the University representative to the NCAA; develop and implement strategies for generating revenues and resources for the athletic program; negotiate facility agreements and contracts for sporting events; coordinate the development of long-term strategies and facilities planning; provide leadership for marketing athletic programs among students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community; supervise the scheduling of all athletic events; promote academic and athletic development/achievement of MVSU student-athletes by maintaining a close relationship with all Academic and Student Units; support a diverse, multicultural environment to build relationships with other academic institutions, alumni, public supporters, parents and educators; promote and market the University and the intercollegiate athletic program through sponsorships of NCAA regional and national athletic events; oversee long-range strategic planning efforts for the intercollegiate athletics program


Qualifications Required :

Master’s degree with five years of coaching or athletic administrative experience; demonstrated commitment to the student-athlete concept; working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, Title IX compliance, and fiscal and operational complexities of an intercollegiate athletic program; proficiency using computer software (e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel); excellent oral and written communication skills; effective budget management skills; excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; proven fund-raising and marketing experience; working knowledge of full compliance with NCAA, SWAC, IHL and University rules and regulations
