Job Description:


The Associate Athletic Director for Compliance (AADC) is responsible for providing senior level administrative support to the Department of Athletics.  The AADC serves as the university’s chief compliance officer for state, Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), and NCAA Division I rules and as liaison to all internal and external constituencies involved in the recruitment, certification, matriculation, and graduation of student athletes at Mississippi Valley State University.

This is a full-time (12-month) position that reports directly to the President and the AADC will be housed in the President’s Office.

General Statement of Duties:

Oversee university, state, SWAC, and NCAA rules compliance for all Division I sports teams, student athletes, coaches, athletics staff and all appropriate university personnel.  Serve as liaison between the Department of Athletics and the academic departments, Office of Student Records, Office of Financial Aid, Office of Institutional Research and the Office of Admissions to provide leadership in athletics rules compliance.


Essential Job Functions:

Essential job functions include: coordinating all aspects of the initial eligibility certification process for all prospective student athletes; monitoring the continued eligibility for all student athletes; maintaining team rosters and eligibility list for all sports; educating student athletes, coaches, university faculty and staff, and alumni on SWAC and NCAA rules compliance.  The AADC is responsible for preparing and submitting routine reports/forms including, but not limited to, the initial eligibility form, progress towards degree form, team rosters, certification of participation form, eligibility certification report, length of playing season report, phone log and countable related activities report, and academic progress rate (APR) report.  The AADC is responsible for ensuring the quality and security of all certification, graduation success rate (GSR), APR, and other pertinent athletic compliance data.  Additionally, the AADC may have the opportunity to supervise sport team(s).


Qualifications Required :

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and knowledge of NCAA rules compliance required, master’s degree and compliance experience in athletics administrations at a NCAA Division I institution preferred
